Chipmunk Facts Did you know? -Chipmunks live about three years in the wild; However, some have been observed living to nine years in captivity -Chipmunks in captivity have been known up to 15 hours a day. -Cheek pouches within the mouths of chipmunks allow them to carry food to their burrows for storage. -Chipmunks are usually found in North America, with the exception of the Siberian chipmunk which is found primarily in Asia. –Chipmunks have an omnivorous diet primarily consisting of seeds, nuts and other fruits, and insects -A chipmunk’s burrow can be over 10 ft long and they keep extremely quite neat for a ground dwelling mammal.
